PAG Survey results to be revealed at family law and wealth conference

For a second year Lexis Nexis is working with George Mathieson, of Mathieson Consulting, and Brewin Dolphin, the family law and wealth management specialists, on surveying your thoughts on pensions on divorce. The survey focuses on the impact of the PAG report on family lawyers and is still open for completion here.
The results of the survey will be revealed at Brewin Dolphin’s annual family law and wealth conference which you can register for free here. Day 1: The future of divorce and pensions
- Divorce Bill - This session opens with Philip Marshall QC, from 1 KBW Chambers, discussing the impact of the Divorce, Dissolution and Separation Act, a key development for 2021.
- PAG: One year on - In the second part of this session George Mathieson, from Mathieson Consulting, will present the interim results of a recent survey in which family solicitors share their experiences of the PAG report’s recommendations one year after being published.
- Exploring a PIAM - The final session will be a panel discussion about an emerging concept known as Pension Information and Assessment Meeting (PIAM). The panel of experts will consider how a PIAM might operate, and if it could be a better way of dealing with pensions for clients and legal professionals.
Day 2: Pension case law update and financial abuse
- Case Law - Joseph Rainer, at QEB Chambers, will provide a pension case law update.
- Relying on valuations - This will be followed by a session where Brewin Dolphin's Chief Strategist, Guy Foster, will look at how the markets will impact valuations being relied upon for financial remedy cases.
- Financial abuse - The session will close with family solicitor Jenny Beck, from Beck Fitzgerald, shedding light on financial abuse in relationships.
Day 3: Villiers, Brexit and Ask the Pundits: Family Law in 2021
- Villiers - Our final session will open with Michael Horton, from Coram chambers, who represented the Appellant in Villiers v Villiers at the Supreme Court who will be sharing his insights on the judgement. He will be joined by Anne Hall Dick, a distinguished Scottish lawyer and mediator.
- Brexit - what next? - David Hodson OBE, a Partner from IFLG, and Lisette Dupré, a Partner from Dawson Cornwell solicitors, will discuss Brexit and its impact on family law.
- The pundit's view - We will close with brief predictions for the future of family law in 2021 from a panel of family law experts.
