On 15 November 2010 a new payment regime is due to be introduced for family legal aid work, the same day as new contracts are due to start for all organisations undertaking family legal aid work but now delayed (see Newsline p 1044). There are two new schemes:

 - Private Family Law Representation Scheme (PFLRS) introduces fixed fee payments for private family law work conducted under a legal aid certificate.

 - Family Advocacy Scheme (FAS) covers advocacy for both private law and public law proceedings, for all advocates.

The public law representation fees have been modified to allow all advocates payment for preparation for advocacy.
