The Public Bill Committee is calling for those who have relevant expertise and experience or a special interest in the Secure Tenancies (Victims of  Domestic Abuse) [Lords] Bill to submit their views of the Bill in writing.

The Bill will ensure that when provisions in the Housing and Planning Act 2016 are brought into force requiring local authorities in England to offer only fixed-term tenancies, this will not apply to certain victims of domestic abuse. The Bill addresses a concern raised during the 2016 Act’s progress through Parliament that victims of domestic abuse would be less likely to leave their homes if doing so would result in an offer of a tenancy with reduced security of tenure.

The Committee will stop receiving written evidence at the end of the Committee stage, which is expected to be not later than 5.00pm on Tuesday 27 March 2018.
