VV v VV [2022] EWFC 41

Date:12 JUN 2022
Third slide

(Family Court, Peel J, 13 May 2022)

Financial remedy proceedings – Extent of pre-marital cohabitation – Short marriage – Sharing principle.

The Family Court held that the respondent husband would pay the applicant wife £750,000, having already paid her £400,000 which had been swallowed up by costs. The court held that cohabitation had not started until December 2019. The fact of engagement, although a relevant factor when considering the extent of the mutual commitment and shared life in the circumstances, did not by itself give rise to a sharing claim.
