UN Convention on the Rights of the Child: UK report

Date:20 AUG 2007

The UK Government submitted its consolidated third and fourth report to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child on 15 July 2007. The Department for Children, Schools and Families coordinated the writing of the report, which includes responses to the committee's concluding observations, as well as details on progress made against the convention since the last report. An additional UK-wide consultation took place, the purpose of which was to gather views and comments from key non-governmental organisations (NGOs) across the UK. They acted as 'critical friends' on the draft UK report. That was followed by a four-week consultation period for the NGOs to submit written comments on the draft report, also including the views of children and young people. The Report is available on http://www.everychildmatters.gov.uk/strategy/uncrc/ukreport
