In March, a landmark event was held on behalf of the Family Solutions Group by Kingsley Napley and Family Law in Partnership, ‘Taking the Fight out of Family Separation: Finding Safe and Supportive Solutions for All’. The event consisted of a discussion led by a panel of multidisciplinary individuals who discussed the key issues that arise during family separation, how they affect the adults and young people involved and what can be done both inside and outside of the legal system to improve the experiences of families in separation. Whilst the recommendations made by the Family Solutions Group rest mostly on government policy, it is hoped that the new Divorce, Dissolution and Separation Act can be used as a catalyst to drive forward meaningful reform and encourage societal change.
