Shared Parenting - the Clear Message from Re G

Date:27 SEP 2005

Lee Arnot, Barrister, 29 Bedford Row Chambers and Emma Harte, Partner, Alexiou Fisher Philipps suggest a shared residence order was made by the Court of Appeal in Re G to get around the lack of statutory provision for step parents/carers to obtain parental responsibility. The article considers whether shared residence orders should be more widely used regardless of the actual division of time because there is a certain negativity attached to contact orders. See September [2005] Fam Law 718 for the full article.
