Separation and Maintenance Agreements Explored

Date:19 DEC 2006

Zahra Pabani Solicitor, Shakespeare's, Birmingham. In what circumstances might a separation or maintenance agreement be considered? Do they even have a role to play at all and, if so, what? Will it not always be more appropriate to recommend that a client opts instead for a final ancillary relief order of the court, thus guaranteeing his or her future certainty? This item aims to explore whether there is a place for separation agreements and maintenance agreements in family work today, or whether we should be advising clients to steer well clear of them.
