The House of Lords' decision in Re G (Children) [2006] UKHL 43, [2006] 2 FLR 629 was interesting and useful, as alluded to in the article by L Whitesmith and D Coombes, Natural Born Children: the House of Lords and the Blood Tie" [2006] Fam Law 953. The decision was not, however, useful for non-biological lesbian parents, infertile fathers whose children were born thanks to the donation of sperm by a stranger to a fertility clinic, couples using a surrogate mother or adoptive parents.
