PATERNITY: Re F (Declaration of Paternity) [2007] The Times August 6

Notwithstanding remarks made in J v C [2007] Fam 1 to the effect that the way in which children were to be informed about their origins was not ultimately justiciable by way of orders under Children Act 1989, s 8, the family justice system was entitled to take responsibility for deciding whether a child should or should not be told of his paternity, in the event of adult dispute. The mother's appeal against a specific issue order that the 8-year-old twins be informed of their true paternity was dismissed.
