Private law cases received by Cafcass in April 2017 decrease by 7%

In April 2017, Cafcass received a total of 3,219 new private law cases.

In April 2016, Cafcass had received 3,461 private law cases, following on from 2,859 in April 2015.

The figure for April 2017 shows a 7% decrease on April 2016 levels (note that there were fewer working days available in April 2017 compared with April 2016 due to bank holidays).
