Date:23 SEP 2011

This article describes a research study of a representative group of nearly 200 new stepfamilies - that is, stepfamilies in existence for at least one and not more than four years. Their history, identification as stepfamilies, and contact and relationships with the non-resident parent are described, as well as the association of these with child well-being and outcomes for children.
