New care applications received by Cafcass in October 2016 rise 5%

In October 2016, Cafcass received a total of 1,141 care applications.  This figure represents a 5% increase compared to those received in October 2015.

Cafcass received 8,595 new care applications between April and October 2016. The 1,141 new applications received in October 2016 represents the highest ever number of applications for the month of October.

The latest year to date demand is 20.5% (1,461 applications) higher than April to October 2015 and 34.2% (2,188 applications) higher than April to October 2014.

Cafcass have received on average over 1,200 new care applications per month since January 2016.
