Family law sits at the cutting edge of science. As the bounds of medicine and technology are pushed ever further the law must respond.
Part one of this article explores some of the ways to approach the legal and practical issues which arise in this area in the context of providing practical assistance to modern families in cases involving trans or transitioning parents. Transgender rights and issues are a hot topic. The polarised views that people can take can be seen in the very recent response to JK Rowling’s tweets or the Trump administration’s decision to reverse health protections for transgender people on 12th June 2020.
