Reviews the case law and argues that McKenzie friends are very likely to be allowed to participate in family proceedings in a non-speaking role, providing they conduct themselves appropriately and have no conflict of interest but McKenzie friends are much less likely to be afforded rights of audience, given the peculiar nature of family proceedings.
