International Conference in Chester 17 to 21 July 2007

The European Regional Conference of the International Society of Family Law (ISFL) will take place at the University of Chester from 17 to 21 July 2007 on the theme 'Family Justice: for Whom and How?' The cost ranges from a very reasonable £300 for five days - including accommodation - to a daily rate of £50 a day. The ISFL is a global organisation dedicated to the study of family law with over 500 members from more than 50 nations. Professionals and practitioners involved or interested in any aspect of family law are invited to attend. Membership of ISFL is not required. The keynote speaker opening the conference will be Lord Justice Thorpe, Head of International Law for England and Wales. Baroness Hale of Richmond, a member of the House of Lords in the UK and a distinguished scholar in the family law field will speak on the closing day. Two of the keynote speakers, Professor Judith Masson and Judge Kevin Barnet will be reviewing the progress of the Family Justice Council at national and local level. Presenters include academics and practitioners, both in law and related disciplines. The conference entertainment includes a conference dinner at Chester Racecourse on Friday 20 July, with catering by a Michelin star restaurateur. There is also a lunch at the Law Society's College of Law on Thursday 19 July, and a reception in Chester Town Hall that evening.
