High fliers get quick promotion at MFG Solicitors

Two family lawyers have been promoted to new executive posts at a Worcestershire law firm only a few months after joining as partners.

Mercedes King-Jones becomes head of the Family Division at MFG Solicitors and Gurdip Brring has been appointed private client development partner.

Mercedes King-Jones takes over the Family Division from Jonathan Tougher, who will continue to develop his practice in high value matrimonial cases. A specialist in matrimonial finance cases, Mercedes joined the family division of MFG Solicitors in June from Parkinson Wright, where she was partner in charge of its Evesham office. She trained with Hugh James, a large commercial practice in South Wales before joining Parkinson Wright in 1995.She has specialised in high value cases that involve complex issues including pensions, family businesses and farming.

Mercedes is a member of the Family Law Panel and Resolution, and is a trained mediator. She said: "Our mission will be to continue to extend our first class service in this complex area of the law and I look forward to the challenges ahead."

Family law and matrimonial specialist Gurdip Brring joined the firm in October from Hulme & Co where she had been a partner in charge of the matrimonial department for eight years.

She has been a pivotal figure during her career in a number of high profile matrimonial cases. Her initial role as private client development partner will be to orchestrate a new initiative known as 'MFG for Me' - which aims to highlight the services the firm can provide for individuals and demystify aspects of the law for clients.

She said: "People might think that a firm of our size is dealing only with corporate clients - but our private client work is important especially in the fields of wills, probate, conveyancing and family law.

"At the same time lawyers tend to use complicated and complex words and terms that can unnerve clients who are not familiar with them.

"So 'MFG for me' will embrace a more straightforward and simple gateway to the law - enabling individual clients to understand what we do and how we can help them."
