Hague Convention Announces Republic of Korea’s ratification of the 1993 Adoption Convention

The Republic of Korea deposited its instrument of ratification of the Convention of 29 May 1993 on Protection of Children and Co-operation in Respect of Intercountry Adoption (1993 Adoption Convention).

With the ratification of the Republic of Korea, the 1993 Adoption Convention now has 107 Contracting Parties. It will enter into force for the Republic of Korea on 1 October 2025. More information on this Convention is available on the Adoption Section of the HCCH website.

At the ceremony, which took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr Hong Seok-in, Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Mr Kim Daehyun, Legal counsellor, Mr Oh Sungjun, Political counsellor and Ms Yu Hangyeol, Researcher, represented the Embassy of the Republic of Korea.

The Republic of Korea has been a Member of the HCCH since 1997 and is now a Contracting Party to 5 HCCH Conventions.
