Grandparents as Carers

Date:24 SEP 2007

The Grandparents' Federation is holding a conference 'Grandparents as Carers' on Tuesday 9 October 2007 in Leeds. The aim is to:

  • highlight the importance of the role that grandparents play and the barriers they face when their grandchildren are unable to live with their birth parents;
  • give an understanding of the issues facing grandparents and other extended family members when children are unable to live at home.

Latest research will provide an overview of key themes and policy recommendations and speakers will address the legal and social issues associated with this form of kinship care. The day carries 5 hours CPD points from the Law Society, ILEX and the Bar Council.
