In the article ‘From Mediation to Modern Solutions: The Journey of NCDR’ Stephen Wildblood KC and Carlie Norris look at the development of NCDR in the UK and how it has progressed to its current state. They consider the statistics for the overburdened Family Court and suggest that there is now an even greater need for NCDR, rather than the court, to be default option. They also consider the benefits of mediators working with other professionals, especially psychologists. Further, they write about the benefits of a different ty[e of NCDR which they call the ‘settlement meeting’ – a form of NCDR that is similar to an FDR but applies to all Family Law issues.
