Places are still available for the Family Justice Council's 11th Annual Debate and panel discussion in London on Tuesday 21 November 2017 (5-7pm).
The topic for this year’s debate will focus on the court’s role in sanctioning medical treatment and the withdrawal of medical treatment of children. The motion reads: 'Parental autonomy and a child’s best interests: Should the courts have the final say?'
The event will be chaired by the Right Honourable Sir James Munby, President of the Family Division of the High Court and Chairman of the Family Justice Council. The speakers are:
Matthew Parris – Former MP, author, columnist and broadcaster.
Jonathan Herring – Professor of Law at University of Oxford and editor of Child and Family Law Quarterly.
Michael Freeman – Emeritus Professor of English Law at UCL
Victoria Butler-Cole – Barrister at 39 Essex Chambers
