Expressions of interest invited for s 9(1) Family Recorders

Date:19 JUL 2010

The President of the Family Division is inviting expressions of interest from Public Family Law Recorders to be authorised under Section 9(1) of the Senior Courts Act 1981 to undertake work in the Family Division. All candidates interested in applying must already be authorised to hear Public Family Law.

In applying, candidates should be aware that there is no training available for this authorisation and as such, candidates should be of the ability to commence sittings at this level immediately.

Candidates wishing to express an interest should complete the form available from the Judiciary website. The completed form should be returned to your circuit office no later than Monday 13 September 2010. Your application will be considered by the Family Division Liaison Judge for your circuit who will subsequently write to the President with their recommendations. The President will then make the final decision on those to be authorised, with the concurrence of the Judicial Appointments Commission and in consultation with the Lord Chancellor.
