Evaluation of an information programme for divorced or separated parents [2003] CFLQ 85

Date:23 SEP 2011

This article reports on a multi-faceted evaluation of a Scottish Parent Information Programme to alert separated/divorced parents to the needs and feelings of their children. Views of the programme were sought from participants and referring lawyers; children's perspectives on separation came from focus groups with adolescents, and interviews with counsellors of young children. Overall, views of the programme were very positive and the programme seemed to meet children's needs, although no behavioural changes were reported by the participants. The main drawback to the programme emerged as poor uptake. Recommendations for future services and evaluations are made.
