The article explores the growing threat of falsified digital evidence, including deepfakes in family law proceedings and the role of digital forensic experts when lawyers have concerns. In considering this, the article reviews some of the ethical and professional responsibilities of lawyers to detect and prevent the use of manipulated evidence and provides guidance on what to look out for.
As technology evolves, so do the risks of falsified evidence. Family lawyers must stay vigilant, informed, and proactive in identifying and addressing these challenges to uphold justice and protect their clients.
