In this article David Williams and Simon Blain examine the role of the child in financial proceedings and to consider whether, in the light of current practice in other proceedings concerning children, their relative lack of voice in financial matters is justified. The authors examine the circumstances in which a child might require separate representation in financial proceedings; the process by which they may participate; and look at some of the practical issues that arise in such cases.
