Dame Jill Black appointed to Court of Appeal

RCJMrs Justice Jill Margaret Black has been appointed as a Lord Justice of Appeal with effect from 15 June 2010, following the appointment of Sir Nicholas Wall as President of the Family Division on 13 April 2010.

The Family Court Practice editor and newly appointed member of the Child and Family Law Quarterly editorial board, was called to the Bar at Inner Temple in 1976 and appointed a QC in 1994. In 1999 she was appointed a Recorder, and later that year a Justice of the High Court, assigned to the Family Division. She served as Family Division Liaison Judge for the Northern Circuit from 2000 to 2004 when she was appointed Chairman of the Family Committee of the Judicial Studies Board. She joined the Judicial Appointments Commission in 2008.
