Information to explain if British citizens can pass on their citizenship to their child born outside the United Kingdom on or after 1 January 1983
New guidance from the UK Visas and Immigration service explains whether British citizens can claim British citizenship for their child born outside the United Kingdom. It includes information about:
- children born in a British overseas territory
- children born outside the United Kingdom to British citizens otherwise than by descent
- children who are born outside the United Kingdom to British citizens by descent
- registering your child as a British citizen
