Changing Parenting Culture Seminar

Date:23 NOV 2009

The final seminar in the Economic and Social Research Council's Changing Parenting Culture series is taking place on Tuesday 16 February 2010 at the British Library in London.

The seminar will hold discussions on anti-social behaviour, childcare, teenage parenting and the rise of 'parenting science'. The event also provides the opportunity for participants to revisit some of the important themes and issues identified through the series. It will include a set of workshops in which participants can consider in more detail the nature and effect of parenting policies. Compared to previous seminars this final event will also include a greater focus on the policy dimension.

The seminars have brought together researchers, parenting organisations and policymakers from Britain and abroad. The seminar is being organised by Helen Reece, Reader in Law at the London School of Economics

The principal aim of the seminar series has been to explore the way that the cultural meaning of parenting has expanded and how it has become an object of expertise and policy making.
