Costs in Family court proceedings are coming under increased scrutiny from the public legal professionals and the judiciary. The Centre for Child and Family Law Reform (CCFLR) decided to hold a debate focusing on this issue.

Four propositions were debated:

-       The Court should impose costs budgets in Financial Remedy proceedings
-       Calderbank offers should be brought back
-       Legal Services Payment Orders should be made more readily by judges
-       More costs orders should be made in private Children Act proceedings

The arguments for and against each proposition are set out in the article along with the voting results.
