Avoiding Delay: a Local Authority Perspective

Date:19 MAY 2006

Yvonne Gibson, Group Solicitor, Buckinghamshire County Council. This article is based on a presentation given to the Thames Valley Family Justice Council at its conference Delay in Care Proceedings, March 2006.

In the authors career she has worked both in private practice, representing parents and children, and, for many years now, in the local authority. In particular, this article looks at how the internal workings of the local authority, particularly in relation to assessing relatives and the workings of adoption panel, can be brought into line with the court timetable.
