New online search for IFAs with divorce accreditation

Date:17 JAN 2011

David Allison, Chair of Resolution The family law association Resolution has today launched a new search facility to enable members of the public going through separation or divorce to find a specialist independent financial advisor (IFA). The facility is hosted on Resolution's website and is being launched alongside new information pages on money and home on the Resolution advice centre.

David Allison (pictured left), Resolution Chair said: "Sorting out the money can often be one of the most stressful aspects of any divorce and people need access to the right help at the right time. That is why Resolution runs a stringent and high quality accreditation scheme for IFAs who have a proven track record in the divorce arena.

"Today's launch means that, for the first time, members of the public will be able to find an accredited IFA in their town or postcode area in a matter of a few clicks from the Resolution hompage. In addition, people going through divorce or separation will be able to find the answers to some of the common financial questions through the money and home section of the advice centre".

Resolution's accreditation scheme for IFAs was launched in 2006 and currently 75 IFAs are members. Members of the scheme have passed specialist exams and have undergone intensive training in all aspects of family law. To remain a member of the scheme, IFAs need to maintain a level of divorce-related work.
