Journals Manager + Online Editor

Rebecca CarlyonManches has announced the promotion of senior associate Rebecca Carlyon to the partnership with effect from 1 January 2013. Rebecca's appointment brings the number of Manches family partners to 11, making it one of the largest family law departments in the country.

Rebecca joined Manches in January 2006, together with the rest of the family finance team from Reynolds Porter Chamberlain.

Known for her fresh approach to family law, Rebecca has been involved in a number of high profile cases, including Re B (Children) [2012] EWCA Civ 1082, one of the first reported Court of Appeal case to focus on the English Court's jurisdiction under Art 3 of the European Maintenance Regulation in which she assisted Manches Partner, James Stewart, as well as the soon to be reported H v S, where the High Court was successfully persuaded to delegate various issues arising from the end of a marriage to a Jewish religious court.

In May 2012 Rebecca was nominated and shortlisted as Family Law Associate of the Year for the Spear's Young Turk Awards which recognises outstanding individuals from new or less traditional private client firms. In October 2012 she was once again nominated and shortlisted for the Senior Associate of the Year category of the Family Law Awards 2012.

Rebecca is a trained collaborative lawyer and a member of London Family Solutions Pod and enthusiastically embraces alternatives to the court process if this is appropriate to the case.

Manches Family Partner, James Stewart, commented: 'We are delighted to welcome Rebecca to the partnership. Her promotion is testament to the firm's commitment to spot and nurture talent from within our ranks and to consolidate our position as a market leader in family law.'

Rebecca Carlyon said: 'This is a fantastic opportunity for me and I am greatly looking forward to being a Partner in the very successful Manches team.'
