Mr Shanahan joins from the Department for Transport where he has held the role of Chief Executive of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency. After his success at the DVLA he took a secondment as the Director of Organisational Change at the Head Office of the Department for Transport.

He has experience of leading and implementing change programmes in both public and private sector organisations, namely Virgin Media and Cable and Wireless.

Paying tribute to Mr Geraghty, the Chair of the Commission, Dame Janet Paraskeva said:  "Stephen has played a significant part in the success of both the CSA and the Commission in the last six years and I wanted to take this opportunity to thank him for his achievements. We look forward to working with Noel Shanahan and to the next stages in the development of child maintenance."
