McCartney and Mills formally divorce

Date:13 MAY 2008

London's High Court formally brought the marriage of Sir Paul McCartney and Heather Mills to an end yesterday.

Justice Bennett granted Ms Mills' petition for divorce on the grounds that the couple had lived apart for two years.

Ms Mills was awarded £24.3 million by Justice Bennett in March.

Neither of the couple were in court for the decree nisi, however Sir Paul was represented by his legal team of both Nicholas Mostyn, QC, and Fiona Shackleton.

The couple married in 2002 and split up in 2006. They have a daughter, Beatrice.
