Fathers 4 Justice allegedly closing down

Date:9 SEP 2008

The fathers' rights group Fathers 4 Justice is closing down in its present form, according to the Family Lore blog.

Nick Langford, Political & Research Coordinator for Fathers 4 Justice would appear to have posted an entry on the blog website yesterday stating the campaign has outlived its sell-by date and isn't achieving anything useful by limping on".

According to newspaper reports and the blog entry, the founder of Fathers 4 Justice, Matt O'Connor, is said to be closing down the organisation.

Mr Langford's writes in the blog entry, Fathers 4 Justice was "brought down by the damaged and obsessed, and that far too much time was spent trying to deal with their squabbles rather than on constructive campaigning".

"The campaign will continue, under a different name, a different banner and different management, but with broadly similar objectives", Mr Langford added.

The organisation temporarily suspended operations in January 2006 after extremist elements from splinter groups were accused in the Sun Newspaper of plotting to kidnap the Prime Minister's son. At the time Mr O'Connor said: "We are in the business of reuniting children with their fathers, not separating them".

No-one from Fathers 4 Justice was available for comment.
