Appointment of Regional Chairmen of the SSCSA

Pauline Alison Gray and David John Wall have been appointed as the Regional Chairmen of the Social Security and Child Support Appeal Tribunal (SSCSA) with effect from Wednesday 8 October 2008.

The SSCSA is part of the Tribunals Service, and consists an appeal tribunal with responsibility for the judicial functioning of appeal tribunals and an executive agency with responsibility for the administration of appeals.

The SSCSA arrange independent hearings for appeals on decisions made by the Department for Work and Pensions (including Jobcentre Plus, Child Support Agency and Disability and Carers Service), as well as other government departments (HM Revenue and Customs) and local authorities.

Pauline Alison Gray, 50, was called to the Bar in 1980 and was appointed to the Transport Appeal Tribunal in 1993, as a Part Time Chairman of the Social Security Appeal Tribunal in 1996, a Legally Qualified Panel Member of the Appeal Tribunals in 1999, a Salaried District Chairman of the Appeal Tribunals in 2004 and then as Legal Member of the Gender Recognition Panel in 2005.

David John Wall, 61, and was admitted as a solicitor in 1974 and was appointed as a Part Time Chairman of the Social Security Appeal Tribunals in 1988, a Legal Chairman of the Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal for England in 1994 and then as a Salaried District Chairman of the Appeal Tribunals in 1992.
