Mr Justice Munby has been appointed as a Lord Justice of Appeal with effect from 12 October 2009, following the retirement of Lord Justice Keene.

Mr Justice Munby, 61, was called to the bar in 1971. He was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1988 and then appointed as a High Court Judge in 2000, assigned to the Family Division and the Administrative Court.

In August this year he was appointed to be Chairman of the Law Commission for three years.
