Sarah Demerling

Sarah Demerling is a Partner in the Corporate & Commercial department and senior member of the Funds & Investment Services team at Appleby Global, Bermuda. Sarah has extensive experience in advising on structuring, formation and day to day operations of investment vehicles including mutual funds, hedge funds, unit trusts, partnerships, private equity and master/feeder structures. She works very closely with the insurance team to advise Bermuda reinsurance managers seeking to raise capital through closed and open-ended investment vehicles and to advise on structures using fund vehicles to invest indirectly into insurance-linked securities (ILS) products. She also has broad expertise in all aspects of Bermuda corporate law but particularly specialises in over-the-counter derivative transactions, ISDA transactions, securities offerings, mergers and acquisitions and more recently, Islamic Finance.

Sarah is a member of the Asset Management Committee of the Bermuda Business Development Corporation and was instrumental in working with the Bermuda Government and Bermuda Monetary Authority to introduce recent changes to the Investment Funds Act.

Sarah is ranked by Chambers Global 2014 as a 'Leader in her Field' in which sources say 'she's highly intelligent, responsive and pro-business.' She is also recommended by Legal 500 Caribbean 2014 and named a ‘Leading Lawyer’ in IFLR1000's 2014 Banking and Finance, Capital Markets and Investment Funds categories. Sarah joined Appleby in 2001.
