Andrew Donovan

Andrew is a former practising solicitor and currently specialises in SRA compliance training and consultancy. He is the founder of the Compliance Office which offers law firms template compliance policies and procedures, online training, in-person training and hands-on support with establishing/reviewing compliance systems and more. Andrew was one of the authors of the current SRA Handbook and was formerly the manager of the SRA’s Legal Policy, Advice and Information team (Legal and Enforcement). During his seven years with the SRA Andrew delivered a number of core training modules to hundreds of SRA colleagues as well as training Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal members, the SRA’s panel of solicitors and lawyers across the country. Andrew has a particular interest and expertise in core ethical obligations, confidentiality and information security, referral arrangements, alternative business structures, law firm structures generally and overseas practice.

Prior to joining the SRA, Andrew worked in civil litigation in private practice for a little under 6 years.

Outside of the Compliance Office Andrew holds afee-paid judicial post, sits on fitness to practice hearings for the General Medical Council’s Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service and is a Board Member of Cilex Regulation.
