UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) has issued modernised guidance for how it manages foreign national offender (FNO) cases with families, and in particular children under 18, in the UK.

The guidance explains how immigration enforcement manages FNO cases with families, and in particular children under 18, in the UK.

The core elements are:
  • The purpose and legal basis for deportation of FNOs and their family members.
  • The Home Office’s legal duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children involved in this process.
  • For those managing FNO family cases, how and from whom they can seek advice on such issues to support their work.
This latest guidance includes various updates to ensure accordance with the Immigration Act 2014 provisions that took effect on 28 July 2014.

In addition, the updated document incorporates an amendment to the approach for contacting local authority children’s services in children cases.
