The Law Society has published updated guidance for solicitors who publicise their services using 'headline' prices, which represent the charge for a given service, including in quotes, adverts, online services and client care information.
Some solicitors are unclear as to what must be included in publicised prices, and cost information may be misleading where additional charges are later 'bolted on' or where items are referred to as 'disbursements' when they are not.
The updated guidance from The Law Society aims to clarify the rules in the Solicitors'
Code of Conduct, which sets out the way in which solicitors should publicise charges.
