Law Society Practice Note: Equality and diversity requirements: SRA Handbook
Date:19 JUL 2012
Third slide
Senior Editor
On 18 July 2012, The Law Society issued a practice note for all solicitors, their employees and consultants, setting out the equality and diversity requirements in the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Handbook.
The SRA implemented outcomes-focused regulation in October 2011, which represented a move away from a rules-based approach to one that focuses on high-level outcomes governing practice and the quality of outcomes for clients.
The practice note includes examples of behaviours that may enable adherence to these outcomes, as well as examples of behaviours that would not. It also sets out how The Law Society can assist you and your practice in this area.
