On 24 January 2013, The Law Society issued guidance on the new standard contractual terms for instructing a barrister.
The Bar Standards Board has made significant amendments to the terms of engagement on which barristers offer their services to solicitors and it has also cancelled the withdrawal of the credit scheme. The arrangements will now be on a contractual basis and there are many areas in the proposed new terms that may cause concerns to solicitors.
