Guide to Judicial Conduct – Revised March 2018
Date:29 MAR 2018
Third slide
Senior Editor

The Guide to Judicial Conduct, originally published by the Judges' Council in 2003/4, has been fully revised. It is intended to offer assistance to judges, coroners and magistrates about their conduct

The Guide is based on the principle that responsibility for deciding whether or not a particular activity or course of conduct is appropriate rests with each individual judge.

It is therefore not a code, nor does it contain rules other than where stated. Instead, it contains a set of core principles to help judges reach their own decisions.
