President’s Guidance on Continuity and Deployment

This Guidance is issued by the President of the Family Division

This Guidance applies to all care and supervision proceedings and other Part 4Proceedings heard in the Family Proceedings Court (FPC) and the CountyCourt until further guidance is issued when the legislation for the FamilyCourt is commenced in 2014.

This Guidance replaces Guidance Bulletins numbered 2 to 4 issued by thePresident of the Family Division in 2010 and 2011.

Deployment is a judicial function which includes the patterning of judges andmagistrates, the management of the workload of the court, allocation andlisting.

The purpose of this Guidance is to ensure that family proceedings areaccorded the appropriate level of priority in their listing and that they are casemanaged and heard by judges, magistrates and legal advisers who providecontinuity of the conduct of the proceedings.
