(Chancery Division; Briggs J; 4 April 2012)
The wife applied for reasonable financial provision from the deceased husband's estate. Two sons of the deceased from previous marriage were executors and beneficiaries of £6m estate. The marriage lasted for just over 2 years. Finding that will did not make reasonable provision for wife. She was left with rights of occupation and annuity. Substituting order with outright transfer of two properties to the wife and a further transfer of the estate's apparent interest in a third property which had been purchased by the couple on behalf of the wife's son.
