The Family Procedure Rule Committee has today launched a consultation to seek views on draft new Family Procedure Rules.

The new Family Procedure Rules will govern the practice and procedure to be followed in family proceedings in the High Court, county courts and magistrates' courts. They aim to follow the example set by the Civil Procedure Rules 1998 and produce one set of simple and simply expressed rules of court for family proceedings.

Her Majesty's Courts Service consulted on the policy that framed the new rules in 2006. The Family Procedure Rule Committee has since worked with HMCS and the Ministry of Justice to translate the agreed policies into workable rules, practice directions and forms.

The committee would like to hear your views on any aspect of the proposed draft rules, practice directions and forms, would particularly welcome views on the questions set out in the questionnaire.

The deadline for responses is 27 February 2009.

Responses can be emailed to: clive.buckley@justice.gsi.gov.uk

Alternatively you can post your responses to:
