The Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Rt Hon Matt Hancock MP, speaking on Friday 13 September at the opening of eight new female genital mutilation (FGM) support clinics, has called for an end to the practice of FGM for good.
He said: ‘These 8 new support clinics, across the country, will give women and girls the care and support they need in their communities…The clinics will focus on education and prevention, as much as treatment and support, so they will be located away from hospitals, in communities where there is the greatest need.’
