The Solicitors' Code of Conduct 2007 came into force on 1 July 2007. The aim is to clarify the principles governing professional conduct and simplify the structure of the rules.

Among other things, the Solicitors Practice Rules 1990 and the conduct obligations contained within The Guide to the Professional Conduct of Solicitors (1999) and Guide Online are repealed. Other key rules remain in force, including the Solicitors' Accounts Rules. The new rules and a summary of the changes can be found on the website for the Solicitors Regulation Authority at http://www.rules.sra.org.uk. The new rules are fully searchable on the website and the complete Code of Conduct can also be downloaded.
