Dr Elizabeth Bates is a senior lecturer in applied psychology at the University of Cumbria, working with my colleague Dr Ben Hine at the University of West London.
They are looking for fathers who have become estranged from their children through withholding of contact, manipulation of systems that restricted contact, or becoming alienated through the other parent's manipulation of the child.
They hope from this study that they can gain a greater understanding of men’s experiences and the impact it has.
Participants will be asked to complete an anonymous online survey made up of some brief demographic questions, and some open-ended questions about experiences of alienation/separation, as well as experiences within the relationship with the child(ren)’s other parent. This could take around 30-45 minutes.
